With both clubs missing their county players this was not your passionate neighbourly battle. Some great hurling was played by both teams. The score at half time was Kiltale 0-7 Kilmessan 0-9 – a scoreline that fitted the close game, with some great blocking preventing Kiltale getting on top. Kiltale had one point from playing coming from John Donoghue and the other 6 scores from four frees and two 65s scored by Jack Regan.
The second half much the same with both sides making substitutions to try and open up the game. A goal miss by J Donoghue from a pass from Durnin would have levelled the match but Kilmessan held firm winning by 3 points. The scores in the second half were a point from play by Mark O’Sullivan, and 3 frees from Jack Regan.
