Camogie: Intermediate league: Kiltale 3-11, Navan 2-8

March 5, 2012

This was tough opposition for Kiltale to open their 2012 season. After getting relegated last year Kiltale needed a good start to this year’s campaign.

It was Navan who got the early lead, getting a goal from the puck in leaving Kiltale chasing the game. Kiltale responded well and showed no fear to their senior opponents. They fought back and took the lead thanks to scores from Cheyenne O’Brien, Aoife Weston, Taylor little and two goals from Sarah Kelly gave Kiltale a much deserved lead in the first half.

Once again in the second half Navan started the strongest and fought back with three unanswered points to narrow the score difference to just three points. Kiltale responded with scores once again from Cheyenne O’Brien and Donna Mc Gann. Navan tired to fight back and managed to score a goal however Kiltale answered it with a Cheyenne O’Brien goal to finish the stronger team. Kiltale were comfortable winners in the end.

Good luck to the Kiltale hurlers representing the county in the forthcoming National Hurling League – the boys in green begin their campaign at home to Kildare in Navan at 2:30pm on Sunday. Best of luck, too, to the footballers from the parish who have made the county under-21 team.

Kiltale plays host to ‘The Pitch’

December 4, 2011

The cast of The Pitch & Kiltale Hurling Club officers

Nearly 300 people enjoyed a fantastic evening of dramatic entertainment last Thursday night, 1 December, as Kiltale GAA played host to Shane Connaughton’s play ‘The Pitch’ at the Knightsbrook Hotel, Trim. The Moth production is currently on a national fundraising tour of GAA clubs in association with the GAA Social Initiative and Calor.

Kiltale Hurling Club chairman Dominic Reilly said: “This is the first time we’ve tried something like this and it exceeded all our expectations. Everyone had a blast! Seamus O’Rourke who plays Philly was amazing, all three of the actors were very strong. We are all very much looking forward to staging the next Moth Production.”

The Moth will be returning for further events in Co Meath in February; details to come later. For more information about forthcoming dates and to make a booking click here.

A Good Night’s Entertainment: Kiltale HC stages ‘The Pitch’

November 30, 2011

Kiltale Hurling Club are staging the award winning play ‘THE PITCH’ in the Knightsbrook hotel, Trim on Thursday 1st December. This play is about rural family life. We are running this night as a fundraiser towards the upkeep of the new walking track and lighting, so appeal that everyone do their best to spread the word and to come out on the night.

Tickets at the subsidised rate of €10 are on sale in Kiltale clubhouse or through any committee member – call (086) 2132288.

About the play…
Philly lived and played for his team, the jersey, the parish, his friends − the very pitch his enemies are now trying to take from him to turn into a housing estate. Tormented by painful memories and the unjust fate that holds him prisoner, he replays the events of that day when his club won the county championship for the one and only time and he wasn’t allowed to play. For him, the old pitch is sacred ground, and it is here that he will make his last stand.
