Walk & Talk: Kiltale’s 24-hour Walking Challenge 2018

February 24, 2018

Kiltale Hurling & Camogie Club, in partnership with local and national charities, would like to announce the launch of its Walk & Talk 24-hour Walking Challenge to take place this May bank holiday weekend.

The Challenge
We aim to have 24 teams walking in relay, continuously, for 24 hours – from 7pm on Saturday 5th May to 7pm on Sunday 6th May.

Each of the 24 teams will be lead by a fearless leader, and will contain a minimum of 10 participants (there is no upper limit on the participants – so go nuts, and try for 20!).

Each participant on the team will be asked to raise a minimum of €100 each in sponsorship, but again there will be no upper limit so reach for the stars. We will have sponsorship cards available but use whatever method you see fit (legal only please) to raise your funds.

As a little challenge, and to focus the mind, we also aim to walk a combined total of 1500km during the event with each team member’s distances being accounted for, so get training!

Launch Night
We will have a launch night for this event when our 24 leaders have been selected. At this launch night we will perform an open draw for the hours that each team will be asked to walk for. We will also reveal details of the novelty hours which will also be assigned to the teams.

The two beneficiary charities will also be revealed on the launch night, and will be present to offer support and encouragement to all participants.

On the Day
The challenge will be finishing as stated above at 7pm on Sunday 6th May, which is the Bank Holiday Weekend.

For the final hour all 24 teams will be recalled to our walking track to finish the challenge together.

We will have a BBQ with all manner of refreshments and entertainment that evening for our participants, sponsors and supporters to enjoy. This will be a great community spirit and all attendance is very welcome.

Please support this event as not only will it help our club and community, but also two very worthy charities!

The club house is a very important facility in our parish and always needs support. Like other clubs we don’t want to know what it is to be without it. Drop in for a drink or an ESSENSCE Coffee or think about using the facility for a party or meeting.

We appreciate your support and value the custom you all give.

Kiltale HC – major fundraiser 2018

The Club are hosting a 24-hour “Walk 2 Talk”Walkathon on the May bank holiday weekend.

24 leaders are been sought, so we have one team walking every hour. Teams can be made up of 5 to 15 people. Every team will be requested to bring a selected sum of money. Each hour will have a different theme (‘family’ or ‘fancy dress’, for example).

We hope the event will involve all in the parish, young and old. All proceeds from one designated hour will be given to a chosen charity, with every other club in the county being asked to nominate one person (and provide a donation) for that hour.

Remaining funds will be put towards the running of the club and to assist in the plans for the development in 2018. While the outstanding Lotto grant will cover renovation of the dressing rooms and fencing off the second pitch, other funds will be required for the other development of the grounds.

At some stage during the 24-hour walk or before the event TV3 will cover the proceedings – we thank those associated with TV3 for the promotion of the fundraiser.

The plan is to hold a fundraising meeting for all who wish to participate or join the organising committee. Volunteers will also be needed to take care of social media promotions, etc. If you are interested in assisting please contact Liz  at 086 1205552 and watch this space for the meeting and all that is happening.
