Hurling league, Division 1B: Kilmessan 0-14, Kiltale 0-11

April 12, 2012

With both clubs missing their county players this was not your passionate neighbourly battle. Some great hurling was played by both teams. The score at half time was Kiltale 0-7 Kilmessan 0-9 – a scoreline that fitted the close game, with some great blocking preventing Kiltale getting on top. Kiltale had one point from playing coming from John Donoghue and the other 6 scores from four frees and two 65s scored by Jack Regan.

The second half much the same with both sides making substitutions to try and open up the game. A goal miss by J Donoghue from a pass from Durnin would have levelled the match but Kilmessan held firm winning by 3 points. The scores in the second half were a point from play by Mark O’Sullivan, and 3 frees from Jack Regan.

1. Ollie Regan, 2. Sean Carroll, 3. Padraig Donoghue, 4.David Kane, 5. Stephen Cummins, 6. David Donoghue, 7.TJ lynch, 8. Sean Dunlevy, 9. Anthony Donnelly, 10. Cathal McCabe, 11. Mark O’Sullivan (1pt), 12. Padraig Kelly, 13. Jack Regan (8pts) all frees or 65’s, 14. Johnny Donoghue (2pts), 15. Stephen Whyte.

SUBS, Chris Reilly for Kane, Peter Durnin for Whyte, Ciaran Ennis for Dunlevy, Willie Mahady for Kelly.

Camogie: Intermediate league: Kiltale 3-11, Navan 2-8

March 5, 2012

This was tough opposition for Kiltale to open their 2012 season. After getting relegated last year Kiltale needed a good start to this year’s campaign.

It was Navan who got the early lead, getting a goal from the puck in leaving Kiltale chasing the game. Kiltale responded well and showed no fear to their senior opponents. They fought back and took the lead thanks to scores from Cheyenne O’Brien, Aoife Weston, Taylor little and two goals from Sarah Kelly gave Kiltale a much deserved lead in the first half.

Once again in the second half Navan started the strongest and fought back with three unanswered points to narrow the score difference to just three points. Kiltale responded with scores once again from Cheyenne O’Brien and Donna Mc Gann. Navan tired to fight back and managed to score a goal however Kiltale answered it with a Cheyenne O’Brien goal to finish the stronger team. Kiltale were comfortable winners in the end.

Kiltale team
Jane Walsh, Sinead Mc Groder, Shirley Dixon, Ciara Donoghue, Eileen Connelly, Shiela Courtney, Alannah Madden, Louise Donoghue (0-1), Jessica Moriarty, Aoife Weston (0-1), Donna Mc Gann (0-1), Cheyenne O’Brien (1-6), Taylor Little (0-1), Mary Connelly, Sarah Kelly (2-1), Chelsea Weldon, Aideen Smith (on for Alannah Madden), Niamh Courtney ( on for Mary Connelly), Andrea Pearle (on for Jessica Moriarty), Orla Hegerthy, Cliodhna O’Sullivan, Ciara Mallee.
